This July DGR is proud to host: Penny Newman.
Unfortunately, Sabrina Cervantes is not available to speak at this meeting due to work, and is in contact with us to reschedule in the near future.
Below are the bios of speakers as initially planned:
Our first speaker is Sabrina Cervantes, who is returning to our club to let us know about her activities in Sacramento. Sabrina serves in AD 60 and was elected to office last November. Sabrina’s victory helped secure Democrats a supermajority in the Assembly and was one of the silver linings of the November election. Many members of our club volunteered in that race and we’re happy to hear from her.
Before gaining office she worked as District Director for Assemblymember Jose Medina. Sabrina’s assembly district includes the communities of Corona, Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Norco, and Riverside.
Our second speaker is Penny Newman, who is running for Riverside County Supervisor. Penny is the Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice (CCAEJ), a 39-year-old organization that has been actively working to improve the social and natural environments for Riverside and San Bernardino County residents.
As Riverside County Board of Supervisor, Penny wants to continue her commitment to uplift the quality of life of residents. She has spoken to our club before, but never as a candidate and we are excited about her campaign.
