At our meeting Thursday, we will be disseminating a permission form for our phone tree. We will use the phone tree to notify DGR members of important community, state, and federal actions or events which need immediate response from Democrats. This could include marches, town hall meetings, static protest, emails, postcards, and phone calls to government representatives of all levels. If you would like to be part of our Quick Response Team, please complete the form, so we can add your name and number as we develop our phone relays.
For our March general meeting, DGR is planning to hold a Riverside City Council candidate forum so that members can hear from candidates directly and vote on endorsing Democratic candidates for the various City Council Wards. If you wish to make a vote for endorsement, we encourage you to attend this event.
social hour ill begin at 6 p.m., the Forum will begin at 6:50 p.m. with the first speaker set to take the stage at 7 p.m. Each candidate will speak once and will be allotted 5 minutes for a speech, 10 minutes for a Q & A session, and then a one-minute closing statement. The forum will be moderated by Bob Melsh.
The questions will be drawn from DGR members on index cards during the social hour before the forum begins and will be selected by the DGR Officers. Once selected, the same question will be asked of each candidate for a specific ward.
The speaking order is set alphabetically and is:
Ward 2: Nicolas Cast, Jon Harris, Andy Melendrez.
Ward 6: Rafael Elizalde, Jim Perry.
There will be a short break between the two Wards.
After the speakers have finished, DGR will take a vote among members on which candidate to endorse or whether no endorsement should be made.
Please feel free to promote this event. This Candidate Forum is open to all registered Democrats, but only DGR members can vote on candidate endorsement, and we request non-members refrain from voting. To become a member of DGR, please see our membership page at riversidedemocrats.org/join for requirements. Membership applications will also be available during the social hour.
In addition to the Candidate Forum, DGR will be considering adopting local policy platform.

March 8th is a day to show the importance of women in American society. If possible, don’t go to work that day.
If that is not an option for you, please wear red and/or buy local.
Be prepared to tell others why it’s important that women are given full equal rights, pay, opportunity, and recognition!
